Teacher arrested for ‘attempted rape’

RAWALPINDI: A schoolteacher was arrested on the charges of allegedly attempting to rape a class three girl student in Sadiqabad. The father of the victim lodged an FIR with the police saying that his daughter and son are students of a government agriculture farm as daughter is student in class three.

He further said in the FIR that she was taken into wash room by a school teacher and allegedly attempted to rape her after threatening her. She escaped the alleged rape attempt after she started shouting loudly.

On feeling the situation was dangerous for him, the accused opened the washroom door and left the scene. Police said that the accused was arrested after a case was registered against him.

Man arrested on charge of murdering wife

TAXILA: Police arrested a man accused of shooting to death his wife whereas a girl was raped in two separate incidents in the jurisdictions of Hazro and Wah Saddar police stations on Monday.

In the first incident, Hazro police arrested an Afghan national, who shot dead his wife Kalsoom Bibi, a mother of four, over a domestic dispute in Jehan Banda village in Ghourghushti town on Oct 10. Police registered a case against him and arrested him on Monday.

Separately, a man allegedly raped a girl in the jurisdiction of Wah Saddar police station. The victim reported to police that a man came to her house and as he found her alone, he raped her and escaped. Police, after medical examination, which confirmed the rape, registered a case against the suspect and launched further investigation.

Meanwhile, The Attock district administration imposed heavy fines on the management of five marriage halls over violations of instructions of the government during a crackdown launched on Thursday.

In line with special directives of Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema, Assistant Commissioner Saman Abbas launched a crackdown against those involved in violating government instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Constable kills wife in Korangi

KARACHI: A 24-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband, who is a police constable, in Korangi on Monday.

Area SHO Amir Azam Khan said that Saba was killed by her husband, Madani Raza, inside their rented home near Eidgah Ground.

He said that the suspect was arrested. During initial probe, he said that his pistol accidentally went off and the bullet hit his wife.

However, his in-laws disputed the claim and said their daughter was murdered.

2 arrested for brutally torturing six-year-old girl in Karachi

KARACHI: A man and his sister were arrested for brutally torturing a six-year-old girl who was also sexually assaulted in Shah Latif Town, police and hospital officials said on Monday.

Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed told Dawn that the girl was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where initial findings suggested “chronic child abuse” and “sexual assault”.

“She has been subjected to horrific sexual torture and physical mutilation. She has undergone immense psychological trauma,” the police surgeon said.

Quoting the doctors who examined her, she said that her one finger was cut, two other fingers were skinned and the wounds were two-three days old.

The victim girl told the doctors that her maternal aunt cut her finger, the police surgeon said, adding that she said the brother of her aunt also raped her.

She said that the girl was shifted to the National Institute of Child Health for treatment.

Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur said in a statement that an FIR had been lodged, the girl’s aunt and her brother taken into custody and a special investigation team formed.

He said that the victim girl was living with her maternal uncle for the past three months and the FIR was lodged on his complaint.

The girl’s uncle told police that he contacted her mother in Larkana and when she reached here on Oct 28 she found that her daughter was brutally tortured.

Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon took notice of the incident and directed the Malir SSP that the suspects did not deserve any leniency.

Man arrested for sexually assaulting girls: police

KARACHI: The police claimed to have arrested a suspect involved in sexually assaulting two minor girls in Awami Colony of Karachi’s Korangi area. In a statement, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi Abraiz Ali Abbasi said that the accused sexually assaulted two minor girls within two days.

Two cases were registered against the accused – identified as Sabir. “The accused, even today, abducted another girl and tried to rape her,” the SSP Korangi added. Upon receiving information, Awami Colony police arrested the accused in an immediate operation. The victims were shifted to hospital for medical tests, SSP Korangi added.

Earlier in October, a flood-affected girl was allegedly gang-raped by two persons in the Clifton area of Karachi. According to details, a minor girl – residing at the flood relief camp – was abducted from outside a shopping mall at Karachi’s Clifton Block 4. Later, the flood-affected girl was found at the same place at 02:00pm. She was later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) after her health deteriorated, where the doctors confirmed she was ‘gang-raped’.

The police, while quoting the victim, said that two identified persons abducted a minor girl and sexually assaulted her. Hospital sources told that the girl is eight or nine-year-old.

Meanwhile, the police surgeon office has also confirmed that the girl was subjected to gang-rape. “A complete medical examination of the victim was carried out,” the police surgeon said, adding that the girl was also infected with fungus due to floods.
