The University of Sargodha (UoS) is seeking support from the Government of Punjab for significant developmental projects, including the establishment of an international campus in China and a new teaching hospital, it was announced during the second day of the university's 12th Convocation.
The proposal was put forward by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas during his opening address at the degree-conferring ceremony.
The academic procession was jointly led by Member of the Punjab Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary for Livestock & Dairy Development, Mr. Asim Sher Maken, and the Vice Chancellor. They were accompanied by the Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, and various deans and department heads.
During the event, degrees were awarded to graduates from the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Abbas detailed the institution's academic and developmental progress. He also emphasised the need to strengthen academia–industry linkages and the role of higher education institutions in creating policy briefs to support evidence-based national decision-making.
Addressing the new graduates, the Vice Chancellor urged them to focus on skills, innovation, and moral values, while maintaining respect for institutions, teachers, and parents.
Mr. Asim Sher Maken congratulated the university administration on the successful conduct of the convocation. He praised the institution's achievements and assured it of the Punjab Government’s full support for its future academic and developmental initiatives, reaffirming a commitment to strengthening higher education.
