Lahore, 27-Jan-2026 (PPI): In a move aimed at bolstering campus safety, Punjab University (PU) inaugurated a dedicated fitness centre for its security guards on Tuesday, part of a wider initiative to improve security arrangements at the institution.

The facility was officially opened by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali. The ceremony was attended by several university officials, including DG Dr Rehan Sadiq Shaikh, Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr Muhammad Akbar Khan, DSA Dr Shahzeb Khan, Resident Officer-II Dr Abdul Majid Khan, and Chief Security Officer Col (r) Tanveer Ashraf Bhatti.

Speaking at the event, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali stressed that "physical and mental fitness is essential for carrying out daily official duties." He confirmed that the university administration is actively taking measures to further enhance security across the campus.

Dr Rehan Sadiq Shaikh elaborated on the facility's objective, stating that its establishment aims to keep security personnel "healthy and energetic." He added that these efforts, under the vice chancellor's leadership, are part of a broader commitment to providing a "conducive environment" for the entire university community.
