A new national training initiative has emphasised that effective professional communication is fundamentally rooted in consciousness and ethical clarity rather than being a purely technical skill. The inaugural session of the National Outreach Programme, held on Monday, challenged university management staff to consider the central role of mindset and purpose in their official interactions.
The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in partnership with the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), organised the first workshop of the National Outreach Programme for Higher Education Management.
The session was conducted by Dr. Hamid Rafiq Khattak, a senior member of national academic committees for the Higher Education Commission (HEC). He discussed the broader dimensions of communication, ranging from metaphysical concepts to practical workplace applications.
Dr. Khattak underscored the importance of clarity of heart and intention in professional dealings, particularly within academic and administrative environments.
The training also covered essential components of formal and official discourse, including best practices in professional correspondence, crafting effective emails, managing communication barriers, and conducting meetings efficiently.
Attendees were briefed on different communication types, common errors in official language, and constructive approaches for presenting arguments with logic, restraint, and professionalism.
The interactive nature of the gathering was enriched by participants who actively engaged in discussions, sharing experiences from their respective institutions.
This initial meeting sets the tone for a week-long programme aimed at strengthening leadership, administrative efficiency, and communication practices in public sector universities. Subsequent sessions are scheduled to cover strategic planning, financial governance, and workplace efficiency through emerging technologies.
