Two cops dismissed in woman’s murder case

SUKKUR: Rukhsana Mangi, the suspended and demoted in-charge of women police station Sukkur and head constable Roshan Ali Channa were dismissed from service by Sukkur DPO Sharjeel Kharal after submission of an inquiry report conducted by ASP City Aitezaz Goraya.

This was stated by Sukkur DPO at a press conference held at his office on Tuesday. He said that both the police officials have been dismissed from service with immediate effect and a case has been lodged against them for their involvement in the murder of Babli Lashari.

The inquiry proved that they had received illegal gratification from victim’s parents and both facilitated her handing over to them.

The DPO said that they had adopted an illegal procedure by preparing non-judicial documents attested by an oath commissioner for Babli Lashari while handing her over to the parents. Legally only a court of law was competent to either lodge her in the Darul Amman or give her hand to her husband or parents.

He accepted gross negligence and responsibility of the police officials, which also invited large scale criticism on the role of Sukkur police.

To a question he said Roshan Ali Channa was handed over to Larkana police on the orders of DIG Larkana Sanaullah Abbasi, while Rukhsana Mangi was absconding.
