LAHORE – The Punjab Minister for Social Welfare Syeda Sughra Imam has urged the women to resist violence against them by force.
Speaking at a seminar held here at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on ‘International Women Day’, she said that only human rights awareness could bring change in the society.
Terming the students as catalyst for bringing revolution she said, “unity, education and awareness can induce a revolutionary change in the feminine class of the society, which is need of the hour.”
She lauded the government’s initiatives of allocating unprecedented number of seats to the women in assembly.
On the occasion, I. A. Rehman emphasised that women should have equal access to education, health and other facilities of life.
Vice Chancellor LCWU Mrs. Bushra Mateen said 90 percent housewives were not allowed to take part in open debates on national issues and the politics of the government.
She urged the government to punish those who play with the lives of innocent women in the name of religion, tradition and honour.
