Remand of the man who threw minor daughter into Ravi extended

LAHORE: A Judicial Magistrat on Monday extended four-day physical remand to one Umar Hayat, an accused of throwing his infant daughter into the River Ravi for not having a son.

On Monday, Shahdara police produced the accused rickshaw driver before the court seeking extension in his physical remand on plea that the body of the girl was not yet recovered from the river. On this, the court handed him over to the police on four days more physical remand. The court has directed police to produce the accused before the court on next hearing going to be held on September 20 along with the investigation report till that.

Shahdara police had arrested Umar Hayat, a resident of Salamatpura, Baghbanpura, under Section 302 of PPC on the complaint of his wife, Sumara.
