Pims forms body to probe nurse’s harassment

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) management has decided to form an inquiry committee to look into the allegation of harassment of a nurse.

The decision was taken after an application was received from a charge nurse, Sapna Ahsan, who alleged that a female charge nurse was harassed by the attendants of a patient but security department did not cooperate with them.

“On the night of 14th October when I was on duty in the Main Emergency Department, an incident happened with one of the charge nurses, when she was physically assaulted by the patient’s attendants. I was there at the time and all the charge nurses of Emergency Department including me were calling out for help but the security guards and their director came after the victim was badly beaten by the attendants,” Sapna Ahsan claimed in her application addressed to the hospital’s dean.

The hospital’s director, Prof Khalid Masood, told Dawn that attendants had also filed an application, alleging that the nurses had misbehaved with them so he had directed that an inquiry committee be formed to look into the issue.

“I will take action as per findings of the report,” he said.
