Abu Dhabi, 27-Jan-2026 (PPI): President Asif Ali Zardari has underscored the critical importance of modernising Pakistan's port infrastructure to foster economic development, following a high-level meeting with the head of AD Ports Group.
During a courtesy call today from Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, the Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, the president commended the organisation's long-term investment and expanding role within the nation's maritime and logistics sectors.
He described the collaboration as a key pillar of the economic cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE.
President Zardari specifically highlighted the group's ongoing projects at Karachi Port, describing them as instrumental in augmenting the facility's capacity, operational efficiency, and regional competitiveness.
Both parties concurred that the expansion and renewal of port facilities would significantly strengthen trade flows, bolstering Pakistan's seaborne commerce and contributing to broader economic progress.
The president also welcomed the establishment of the Emirati group's representative office in Islamabad and expressed appreciation for its collaborative efforts on digital and customs facilitation, which are designed to improve overall trade efficiency.
