Military Spearheads Major Rescue Efforts In Snow-Stricken Provinces

Islamabad, 27-Jan-2026 (PPI): Military-led rescue and relief operations are underway across snow-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan following severe weather conditions that have disrupted local communities and transport links.

In Balochistan, the army has established several control centres to coordinate the aid effort in locations such as Ziarat, Bolan, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Khojak Top, Lak Pass, Dukki, and Muslim Bagh.

Essential supplies, including food and medical assistance, are being distributed to stranded tourists and local residents who have been rescued as part of the ongoing operations.

Similar assistance activities are in progress in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's District Kurram, where intense rain and snowfall prompted an immediate response to support the local population.

Heavy machinery and personnel were deployed to clear and fully restore all affected roads in the district, re-establishing vital ground communication links.

The restoration of these critical ground routes has reportedly enabled the local populace to regain access to markets and healthcare facilities.

In the Tirah Valley, troops are also actively involved in assistance activities amid the heavy snowfall, with officers and soldiers reported to be overseeing the relief efforts in challenging terrain.

The operations are part of the military's stated commitment to providing assistance to the public during natural disasters and emergencies.
