ADB in Talks with WAPDA to Finance Key Dam and Flood Telemetry Initiatives

Lahore, 27-Jan-2026 (PPI): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) held detailed discussions regarding potential funding for the Naulong Dam Project and the National Flood Telemetry Project, signalling a deepening of their partnership on critical infrastructure.

During a meeting in Lahore on Tuesday, the international financial institution expressed its readiness to continue its collaboration with the Pakistani water authority.

The strengthened ties are aimed at the implementation of climate-resilient projects vital for the nation’s future.

Jiangfeng Zhang, the ADB Director for Central and West Asia, also appreciated WAPDA for its technical expertise in harnessing the country’s water resources.

In response, WAPDA Chairman, retired Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed, thanked the development bank for its consistent support in managing Pakistan’s precious water reserves.
