Man held in wife’s murder case
ISLAMABAD, April 30: The city police have arrested the husband of a woman who was found murdered on April 17.
The police arrested the man, a property dealer, on suspicion after he gave conflicting statements. Besides, the deceased’s father had also alleged his involvement in a complaint lodged with the Kohsar police.
The suspect was detained in Crime Investigation Agency’s building after his arrest, where a federal minister belonging to the ANP met him.
According to the autopsy report, the woman died between 12pm and 3pm. She received seven deep and sever wounds on his head from a blunt weapon – a hammer or an axe – resulting in two fractures.
Amera Asif, 30, hailing from Sialkot was found murdered in the store of her bedroom in a house located at F-7/1.
The deceased’s husband, who belongs to Wazirabad, told the police that his wife went to the bedroom at around 3pm after giving her one-and-a-half-year-old son to her mother-in-law.
When a family member went to wake her up at around 7pm, the door of the bedroom was found locked. Despite repeated knocks, there was no response from inside.
He said the family members then informed him and he reached home and tried to wake her up. However, after getting no response, he entered the room from the window, which was open, and found her lying in a pool of blood. He then informed the police.
However, the autopsy report suggested that she died between 12pm and 3pm, the police said, adding they have also found evidence that during this time the woman’s husband was present in the house.
During interrogation, it was revealed that his mother and other family members were also present in the house on the occasion.
The carpenters and painters who were working in the house during investigations told the police that nobody had come to the house from outside.
Our Staff Reporter from Pindi adds: A man cut the nose of her wife apparently for no reason here on Tuesday, who was later shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, her family and hospital sources said.
According to a her relative, Yasmeen Akhtar’s husband – Juma Khan – was an addict and used to quarrel with his wife. He said on Tuesday she was at home when her husband chopped off her nose with a kitchen knife which caused bleeding.
She was removed to the hospital where she is stated to be in stable condition.
