Man booked for holding teenage girl hostage to force her into marriage

SUKKUR: The Shikarpur Police registered an FIR against an influential man, aged 65, for holding a 12-year-old girl hostage to force her into marriage.

The case against the 65-year-old influential chieftain Ghazi Khan Manghnejo was registered at the 20 mail Police Station on the complaint of the teenage girl’s mother Shazia Manghnejo. After registering the case, the police raided the house of the accused but he managed to escape.

Shazia Manghnejo, the victim girl’s mother, informed the police that the accused Ghazi Khan Manghnejo took her daughter hostage on the gunpoint and kept her at his banglow for 15 days.

She further said that they approached the police, but the police refused to take any action against the accused.

She said that later they filed a petition in the District and Sessions Court Shikarpur for the recovery of their daughter, adding that the district and sessions judge appointed a judge as raid commissioner who conducted the raid on the banglow of the accused and recovered their daughter.

The police produced the teenage girl before the court. Later, the court ordered the police to register an FIR against the accused and provide protection to the victim girl and her family.

The victim girl recorded her statement, in which she revealed that the accused subjected her to sexual assault and torture at his banglow for 15 days.
