Woman raped, blackmailed by quack for seven months in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: A woman has filed a complaint with police, alleging that a quack, promising her to arrange a regular nurse’s job for her, had been raping and blackmailing her for seven months at Khairpur Tamewali.

According to the complainant, who is a nurse, she was referred to a ‘clinic’ by an acquaintance for a job.

She said the owner of the ‘clinic’, who was a quack, employed her for Rs16,000 per month,but stopped paying her salary after two months.

Later, she alleged, the suspect forcibly developed relations with her, promising to arrange a regular job for her.

She said the accused raped her for seven months and during the period also made some objectionable video clips of her.

She alleged that the suspect threatened to upload the video clips on social media if she complained to police about her rape. Acting on her complaint, Khairpur Tamewali police registered a case under section 376 of the PPC against the quack, who fled the town.

A police official said raids were being conduct to arrest the suspect.

Man booked for wife’s murder

BAHAWALNAGAR: Mandi Sadiq Ganj police booked a man on charge of killing his wife after she refused to give him money to buy drugs.

According to the FIR, Zareena (46) married Azam about 30 years ago and the couple had nine children, including four sons and five daughters.

Azam was a drug addict and would often torture his wife on the issue of money. On Dec 15, Azam exchanged harsh words with Zareena refused over the same issue; however, he kept silent when family members intervened.

The next day, he hit Zareena with a shovel in her head and neck when she refused again to give him money for drugs. The suspect fled the scene, leaving Zareena critically injured. Later, she succumbed to her injuries.

Swabi man held for killing sister

SWABI: The police on Saturday arrested a man a few minutes after he allegedly killed his sister.

According to a report lodged by one Usman Sher with the Swabi city police station, Yasin Khan shot his sister dead with a pistol after a verbal altercation over a family dispute in Bakar village of Saleem Khan union council.

Soon after information received about the incident, a police team led by DSP Swabi Jawad Khan, SHO Munsif Khan, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Majid Khan, in-charge of the Saleem Khan police post, reached the spot and arrested the alleged killer.

The police also recovered the pistol used in the crime, and several rounds from his possession.

It has been learnt that the deceased wanted a share in the parents’ property, but her brother refused this, which became the reason for the murder.

The police registered a case and began further investigations.

Litigant woman shot dead, mother wounded after court hearing

SUKKUR: A woman was shot dead, and her mother was wounded in an attack carried out while they were returning home after attending the hearing of a case pertaining to their family matter in Khairpur on Saturday.

According to the area police, the deceased woman, Paras, 22, was divorced by Abdul Shakoor Pirzado about a year ago and she had moved the court to seek financial support from him for their son. She along with her mother, Shabana Khatoon, was returning home after attending the hearing of her plea when she was attacked. She died on the spot and her mother also sustained critical bullet wounds.

The police believed that the attack was carried out by Pirzado, and claimed that he fled the area after committing the crime.

The victims were residents of Shaldani village near Piryaloi town of Khairpur district.

They were taken to the Rural Health Centre of Garhi Mori near the town where doctors pronounced Paras as dead on arrival and referred Shabana Khatoon to the Khairpur Civil Hospital due to her critical condition.

A hunt for the suspected assailant was under way, said the police.

Man commits suicide after shooting wife dead in Malir

A man shot his wife dead before committing suicide in front of their child in Malir’s Gulshan-e-Qadri area on Saturday. The drama began around 4pm, when he stood at the window of his house on the second floor and demanded attention from the media.

The locals gathered on the spot recorded the incident on their phones and uploaded it to social media platforms. After standing at the window the man demanded media attention as he threatened to commit suicide.

He continued to ask for the media to give him attention, saying that he would talk about his problems on air, otherwise he and his family would commit suicide.

After about an hour and a half he shot his wife dead, then took his own life. No one took the incident seriously until the two deaths occurred.

The man used to run a shop in the area. He had moved to the building a few days ago. When the police arrived, they heard three gunshots. The main door of the building was closed, so the police took the stairs.

The man’s uncle told the police that the deceased, Mashkoor, 35, had an argument with his father and was mentally unstable. Police said the man was living in the house with his second wife.

Malir SSP Tariq Mastoi told the media that Mashkoor killed his wife before committing suicide. The officer said the man had a property dispute with his parents and brothers. The Mastoid parents had given him a shop to run a grocery, he added.

SSP Mastoi said that according to the relatives, Mashkoor had some psychological issues, adding that his parents were about to hand over some property to him.

The officer said Mashkoor kept shouting from the window demanding media attention. He claimed that the police had tried to stop him. “Within a short while gunfire was heard, so the police climbed up the stairs and broke the door. Inside, a man and a woman were found dead, but the two-year-old was safe.”

The SSP said Mashkoor had kept the doors of the house closed, adding that his paternal relations belonged to Rahim Yar Khan, while he also had some land dealings. His parents were paying the rent of his house, he added.
