KHAIRPUR: Hundreds of villagers of the Faiz Gunj town of the district Khairpur on Saturday protested against the police by putting on a road the body of a woman killed in alleged police torture.

The protesters accused the Faiz Gunj police of torturing to death Hawwa w/o Ibrahim Khaskheli and demanded registration of an FIR against the involved policemen. They alleged that on Friday, the Faiz Gunj police conducted a raid on the Khaskheli village and tortured the villagers, including Hawwa who was seriously injured and died on Saturday. The police booked 25 villagers in a case of obstruction of duty and arrested several of them.

On the assurance of SPO Abdullah Lakhir of taking action against the policemen and withdrawing the case, the protesters dispersed.
