Capital’s Police Urge Students to Report Drug Peddlers in Major Anti-Narcotics Push

Islamabad, 27-Jan-2026 (PPI): Senior police officials have directly appealed to university students to act as informants and report any narcotic-related activities in their vicinity as part of a significant new drive to rid the federal capital of drug abuse.

The appeal was made during an awareness seminar at The Millennium Universal College (TMUC), a key event in a special campaign titled “Nasha Ab Nahi” (No More Drugs). The initiative was launched following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to protect the younger generation.

Addressing the assembly, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Muhammad Jawad Tariq, alongside the SSP Investigations and other senior officers, detailed the destructive health consequences of substance abuse, its negative societal impact, and ongoing police operations against traffickers.

The DIG emphasised that narcotics are particularly ruinous to the health and future of young people. He urged the attendees to safeguard themselves from this threat and to play an active role in preventing others from falling victim to addiction, stressing that collaboration between parents and teachers is vital for this effort.

He further called on the student body to demonstrate responsible citizenship by immediately informing law enforcement of any drug-related activities, stating that eradicating this scourge would be impossible without public cooperation.

Officials confirmed that the capital's police force is working proactively with other law enforcement agencies to prevent substance abuse. It was revealed that specialised teams have been formed specifically to apprehend dealers operating within and around educational institutions.

The DIG reaffirmed the commitment of the force to bring all individuals involved in the heinous business of the drug trade to justice under all circumstances, again encouraging citizens to support the police in their mission.

At the seminar's conclusion, the students expressed appreciation for the police's efforts and assured the officials of their full cooperation in the fight against illegal drugs.
