Islamabad, 27-Jan-2026 (PPI): The Prime Minister of Pakistan on Tuesday commended Myanmar for its cooperation in combating human trafficking and for its support of Islamabad’s engagement with ASEAN during a meeting with Myanmar’s visiting Foreign Minister, H.E. U Than Swe.

In the morning meeting, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the country’s commitment to bolstering its enduring relationship with Myanmar, highlighting the need to broaden collaboration in trade, economic engagement, education, culture, and capacity-building, alongside fostering greater people-to-people exchanges.

The Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, currently on an official visit, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception extended to him and his delegation. He conveyed greetings and good wishes from Myanmar's leadership and articulated his nation's aspiration to expand ties with Pakistan in areas of shared interest.

The visiting dignitary also extended special thanks to the Prime Minister for Pakistan's timely assistance provided to Myanmar in the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake on 28 March 2025.

The discussions were also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Tariq Fatemi.
