Pakistan Equities Rally as Trading Volume Soars While Value Declines

Karachi, 28-Jan-2026 (PPI): The Pakistan stock market experienced a notable surge in trading activity on Wednesday, with share turnover climbing significantly, yet the total traded value paradoxically contracted, suggesting a strong investor pivot towards lower-priced scrips even as the bourse closed in positive territory.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index advanced by 177.53 points, or 0.09 per cent, to settle at 188,380.39. Throughout the session, the index fluctuated between an intraday high of 189,183.88 and a low of 188,179.51.

Similarly, the KSE-30 Index registered an increase of 75.72 points, equivalent to a 0.13 per cent rise, concluding the day at 58,032.20.

Overall market activity saw a substantial rise, with the turnover in the regular market reaching 953.91 million shares, a considerable jump from the 749.24 million shares traded on the preceding day.

However, in a contrasting development, the traded value for the same segment diminished to Rs 48.87 billion from the previous day’s figure of Rs 53.06 billion.

The positive sentiment was reflected in the overall market capitalisation, which expanded to Rs 21.185 trillion from Rs 21.146 trillion, indicating an increase in the total value of all listed companies.

Activity in the Deliverable Futures Contracts (DFC) market also saw an uptick, with turnover escalating to 598.30 million and its traded value rising to Rs 37.77 billion. The Odd Lots (ODL) segment mirrored this upward trend on a smaller scale.
