Women’s role in uplift works lauded

KARACHI – Federal Minister for Privatisation and investment Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh gave away the ‘Woman of the Year Award’ to the President of First Women Bank (FWB), Ms Zarin Aziz in the ‘Ladies Forum’ glorious function here on October8.

The ceremony was organised by ‘Ladies Forum’ and a large number of women relating to business, banking, media and art attended the functions.

The Minister also presented the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to Begum Qamar Ispahani.

He congratulated the awards recipients and urged the women to increase their abilities for big contribution in the development works. “If Ms Zarin Aziz can win the award, other ladies can follow the same by playing their due and positive role in the society,” he said.

Hafeez said: “They have done a lot but they have to do more and more to get their due role and tackle the future challenges.” He assured them of his cooperation in collective efforts and urged to build confidence among them for expanding contributions.

in her address of welcome, Ladies Forum chairperson Farzana Rehman thanked the Minister for giving time to the function despite his hectic schedule. She also applauded the team and staff of the FWB.

She also appreciated the role of S.H. Hashmi, Chief Executive of Orient McCann Erickson Pakistan for encouraging the women development works.

Members of the Award Committee Mehtab Akber Rashidi, Secretary information Sindh and Dr Masooma Hasan Foreign Secretary Cabinet Division and former Pakistan Ambassador to Austria all congratulated the winner of awards and urged them to continue their efforts to bring positive changes in the society.

On the same occasion, a message was received from the Adviser to Prime Minister for the Women Development, Nilofar Bakhtiar, in which she appreciated the role of Ladies Forum for organising the “wonderful function”, and congratulated the winners of the Awards.

Speaking on the occasion S H Hashmi stressed that women who experience the ups and downs of the life should contest elections from medium and poor classes to improve the deplorable condition of the society.
