Women’s participation in elections urged

QUETTA: Election Commission of Pakistan member retired Justice Irshad Qaiser has said that the ECP is making all-out efforts to enhance the turnout of women voters in elections, without which the electoral process could not be complete.

She said at a seminar on Thursday that the event was aimed at spreading awareness among women and special persons about the election process so that all segments of society could fully participate in elections. She said that it was the responsibility of society to play its role for ensuring the participation of women and special people in the elections.

She said the population of women was around 52 per cent but their participation in elections was less. Same was the position of special persons, she said. “It is happening due to various reasons, including the attitude of the society.”
