Women’s centre opens in Peshawar
PESHAWAR,January 13,2005 Begum Shamim Iftikhar, NWFP governor’s wife, inaugurated a women skills development centre at Dara Adamkhel Bazaar, on January 11.
Addressing the gathering, she said the Fauji Foundation and army centres would be asked to arrange exhibition of locally made garments and other articles at the centre.
Following the complition of courses, each female student would be given a free sewing machine, she said.She said Rs 200 would be announced as a monthly stipend to each student undergoing training in the centre.Mrs. Iftikhar distributed stipends worth Rs 32,000 among students.
Mrs. Iftikhar said in March 2004 the industries department of the governor’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) secretariat had arranged an exhibition of handicrafts, adding would help arrange similar exhibitions at army centres and the Fauji Foundation.
