Women police fight harassment

LAHORE: City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) deployed a squad consisting of female traffic wardens to patrol the streets and control harassment on New Year’s Eve. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Ammara Athar said that the squad would perform duties on main roads and across the city until late at night.

The squad was tasked with controlling eve teasing during New Year’s Eve and patrolled Mall road, Jail Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg and other important points. Meanwhile, Dolphin Squad also a special squad also to ensure law and order and prevent aerial firing and one-wheeling in the city on New Year’s Eve. The squad consisted of 220 teams patrolling areas where one-wheeling and aerial firing are most common, including Walton, Defence, Jail Road, Qurtaba Chowk, Mall Road, Chungi Amar Sadhu, Karim Block, Thokar and other points. These patrols were carried out in coordination with police response unit. The teams also manned pickets with local police across the provincial metropolis.
