Woman demands action against alleged rapists

ISLAMABAD: A woman from Bahawalpur on Friday appealed to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for action against her alleged rapists.

Nadia Khan Abbasi told a news conference here that some politically well-connected persons from her area had gang-raped her but no action against them had been taken so far. She said the police arrested the alleged rapists but freed them after brief detention. She demanded that the prime minister ensure early arrest, trial and punishment of the alleged rapists.

The woman threatened self-immolation outside the Prime Minster’s Secretariat in case of denial of justice.
