KASUR: A local court sent a widow, who jumped into the BS Link Canal with her daughter and son over poverty, to District Jail here on Monday.
On Sunday evening, Rani Bibi, a resident of Rukanpura Chak 22, Jambar Kalan, with her four children – Haider, 7, Sadia Bibi, 8, Asad, 10, and Uzma, 12 – went to the canal and threw Haider and Uzma into it. However, Sadia Bibi and Asad ran away on seeing the incident. Later, Rani Bibi also jumped into the canal. Locals saved Rani while Uzma and Ali Haider drowned. Divers have fished out the body of Ali Haider and efforts were on to recover the body of Uzma.
