Widow, 2 daughters recovered from captivity of rapist after 18 months
KARACHI: The Darakshan police on Thursday recovered a widow and her two daughters from the clutches of a man, who was holding them captive for the last 18 months.
Police have arrested the alleged captor, Arshad, son of Hakim Khan, and registered a case under Section 496 (kidnapping for rape) against him. SHO Darakshan Raja Tariq said a woman, ‘F’, submitted an application to the police that a man had kidnapped her widowed daughter, ‘M’, 35, along with the latter’s two minor daughters.
The police raided an apartment on 11th Street in the Badar Commercial Area and recovered the woman and her 6-year-old and 5-year-old daughters. The police said the woman had moved to Karachi from Okara in Punjab after her husband died in 2005. Later, she met Arshad at a beauty parlour, and the latter promised to marry her. But instead, he held her and her daughters captive at his home and used to rape her. ‘M’ somehow managed to make a phone call to her mother and informed her about her condition, following which her mother wrote an application to the police. “Arshad belongs to the Hazara area and has also confessed to committing similar crimes before,” the police official said.
