DADU: Residents of village Athien Shakh took out a procession on Thursday against kidnapping of two women by armed men.
Carrying placards and banners, men women and children marched from the new bus stand to the DPO office in protest. They were demanding recovery of the women who had been kidnapped 10 days ago.
They also held a demonstration out side the DPO house and burnt tyres, which led to suspension of traffic for two hours.
Ali Sheer said armed men of Solangi tribesmen had barged into his house, kidnapped his wife Zubeda, 38, and his brother’s wife Marvi, 40.
Zahida Khaskheli said that she had apprehension that the kidnappers had killed the kidnapped victims.
She alleged that after getting bribe, police were not forcing them to return the kidnapped women.
The protesters dispersed when Dadu DPO Pervez Chandio met protesters and assured recovery of the kidnapped women within two days.
PROTEST: Tail-end growers of Pir Gunio waterway held a demonstration outside the press club here on Thursday in protest against irrigation officials for non-provision of water.
Nazeer Ahmed alleged that irrigation officials were selling water to influential growers at the head of Dadu canal and Johi branch, and they were not getting their share of water.
He said that irrigation engineer was not meeting the affected growers to receive complaints.
Mohammad Jatoi said that over 1000 growers were waiting for water to sow wheat and cotton crop on 5,000 acres land at the tail-end of Pir Gunio waterway.
Allahyar alleged that irrigation officials had fixed amount for a watercourse to provide water.
PPP MPA Kulsoom Chandio reached the spot and said, if water was not released to the tailend growers of Pir Gunio waterway, she would lead a demonstration of growers out side the residence and office of the Dadu engineer irrigation.
