SUKKUR: A man has been arrested for presiding over a jirga which declared a couple karo-kari and also ordered their murder.

Ghulam Sarwar Unnar of Waryam Unnar village in Mirpur Mathelo had lodged an FIR with the Belo Mirpur police against Mohammad Hassan and nine others for holding the jirga.

He alleged in his complaint that the jirga had declared her daughter Mukhtaran who had solemnised nikah with her relative Asif Unnar karo and kari and also issued a directive to kill both of them.

Police have arrested Muhammad Hassan and conducting raids to arrest the remaining people nominated in the FIR.
