KHAIRPUR, Feb 6: The police produced seven accused of the Gul Mohammad Shaikh village jirga case before the civil judge and judicial magistrate in Gambat and took their one-day remand.
The jirga was held in the village on January 2 in which two women were declared karis and two under-age girls of the male accused parties were given in marriage in the families of ‘aggrieved’ parties as a compensation for the disgrace they were facing.
The police with women officials took into custody one of the girls, Abida Shaikh, who had been married to one Gulzar Shaikh, and lodged her at the police station.
