Police said Rashid Ali, a resident of Bahanwala village, Liaquatpur Tehsil, Rahim Yar Khan, had suspected that his sister-in-law was having an affair with one of their neighbours. On Saturday night, he had an altercation with his 32-year-old sister-in-law after which he used an axe to kill her. Police said that Ali had fled. They said they had sent the body to a mortuary for post-mortem examination and later handed it over to the family for burial. They said they were looking for Ali.

The second incident took place in Kotla village, Rahim Yar Khan, on Saturday night. Police said Abdul Hameed, Aashiq Hussain, Abdul Wahid, Muhammad Irshad, Kareem Bakhsh, Munir Ahmad, Muhammad Altaf, Muhammad Irshad, Ibrahim and Muhammad Umar attacked a woman and her alleged paramour at her house. Police said the woman was Hameed’s daughter-in-law.

Police said the men had beaten up the woman and the man before they used an axe to kill her.

Police said the man was critically injured and was taken to a hospital where doctors treating him said his condition was serious. They said they had sent the body to a mortuary for post-mortem examination.
