Two sisters lodge FIR against father

KARACHI: Two sisters have lodged an FIR against their father alleging that he had sold them in the name of marriage, police said on Sunday.

The FIR (248/12) was lodged under Section 371 (habitual dealing in slaves) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Zaman Town police station on a complaint of Hameeda, 30, and her younger sister Majida, 17, against their father, Ali Hassan.

The police said the two sisters escaped from Punjab and reached their father’s home in Karachi, where they created such a scene that neighbours called the police. Hameeda, mother of six, said she was sold for Rs10,000 about 15 years back in Punjab and her two sisters, Majida and Sajida, were sold for Rs30,000 each, and their so-called husbands in Punjab forced them to work on farms.
