TAXILA: Three persons were arrested for strangling a newlywed girl to death in Bai village in the jurisdiction of Hassanabdal police station, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.
The victim`s father, a native of Mardan, reported to the police that his teenage daughter had married the suspect a few months ago and that her in-laws informed him that she had committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her room.
However, when he, along with other family members, arrived to see her, they found strangulation marks on her neck.
As the police were informed about the suspicious suicide, her body was shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital, and a preliminary autopsy confirmed that the girl had been strangled to death.
Subsequently, police registered a murder case against the victim`s husband, her brother-in-law and father-inlaw and arrested them.
Separately, as many as six people, including a woman, were killed and three others injured in six different accidents in various parts of Taxila and Attock on Tuesday, police and rescue sources said.
