Three booked for girl’s rape

KARACHI: The Mauripur police booked three men on Tuesday for the alleged gang-rape of a 10-year-old girl.

A police official said a case (FIR 276/2009) was registered after a complaint was lodged by the victim’s father, a resident of Mawach Goth, that three men of the same locality had sexually assaulted his daughter while she was alone at home.

“All the suspects have been nominated in the FIR registered under Sections 377 [unnatural offences] and 34 [common intent] of the Pakistan Penal Code,” said an official at the Mauripur police station.

“The girl has been moved to a hospital for a complete medical examination, which would determine the merit of the charge and the intensity of the alleged offence.”

He said the police raided the suspects’ homes and then at least two other places for their arrest but could not find them. The victim’s father was a worker at a farm house and claimed to have no enmity with the alleged rapists, he added.
