MANSEHRA: The students of various colleges on Thursday staged protest against the gang-rape of a girl student and asked the authorities to take harsh steps against the culprits.
Holding banners and placards, the students marched on various roads to demand public execution of the three suspects who allegedly raped the student. The angry students gathered outside the City Police Station to register their protest on the incident and raised slogans to demand public execution of the culprits.
Speaking on the occasion, the student leaders including Qazi Mohammad Saeed, Majid Shah, Gulzeb and others asked the authorities to try the accused under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Another protest rally was also taken out on the busy Karakoram Highway. The protesters burnt tyres on the Karakoram Highway and blocked it for about an hour.Speaking on the occasion, Kifayatullah, Hashim Ali, Sheikh Adil and Dr Jalil demanded the chief justice of Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the gang-rape case.
Kifayatullah said that the traders and transporters should also come forward against the incident and extend their support to the civil society in this noble cause.
