Six-month pregnant woman miscarries after assault

KARACHI: The Sachal police are looking for five men who are allegedly involved in an assault on a pregnant woman resulting in a miscarriage. On Friday a woman named S came to JPMC for a medical examination. She recorded her statement, and said that five men barged into her house and physically assaulted her. One of the men kicked her in the abdomen, after which she fainted. When she came to, she realized that she had miscarried. S was six months into her pregnancy at the time. An FIR has been registered against Abdul Hafiz Marfani, Mehboob Marfani and three accomplices. The men, however, have yet to be arrested. According to the police, there was a quarrel between S and the Marfanis over the possession of a plot.
