LAHORE: The body of a seven-year-old girl, who was brutally killed after being raped, was recovered from Saeed Plaza, Urdu Bazaar, in the New Anarkali police limits on Monday.
Qadeer Ahmad, seven-year-old Mudassra’s father, who is a peon at the Punjab University’s New Campus, had informed the police on Sunday evening that his daughter was kidnapped. The New Anarkali police refused to take action, telling him that his daughter would return home herself after some time.
At this, he along with some locals staged a demonstration against police by burning tyres on a road in the area. Police high-ups later persuaded the protesters to stop their protest, assuring them of action. A case (No 334/09) was registered under Section 363 of the PPC.
However, they failed to recover the girl. On Monday, at 9:30 am, the workers of Saeed Plaza informed the Edhi Foundation about the presence of a body in the building. The body was of Mudassara, which had signs of sexual assault. It was shifted to a morgue for autopsy.
It is pertinent to mention that both parents of the victim are deaf and dumb. The investigation officer of the case, Inspector Rana Nawaz, said the girl was killed after being raped. He said iron bars were pierced into the neck of the girl.
Police have taken the workers of Saeed Plaza into custody for investigation. In another incident, the Gujjarpura police found the body of a 10-year-old unidentified girl from a drain.Gujjarpura SHO Sharif Sindhu said that the condition of the body showed that the girl had died in an accident.
