A 22-year-old under-training police constable, arrested for kidnapping and raping a girl, allegedly died by suicide while in police custody in Bhera town on Friday.

According to sources, the constable was arrested after a case was registered against him in connection with the abduction and rape of the girl.

He was to be taken for a DNA test on Friday when he reportedly slit his throat with a blade. He was shifted to Bhera THQ Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Police claimed a suicide note was found on him and taken into custody.

The body was handed over to the family after postmortem.
