Rival clansmen gun down woman, eight-year-old son in sleep

A group of heavily armed clansmen barged into a house in Nisar Katohar village of Jacobabad district late on Wednesday night and opened fire, killing a woman and her eight-year-old son. Her other son aged 10 was critically wounded in the attack.

Close relatives of the women claimed that the attackers belonged to the Jalbani clan. They told police and the media that they had an old enmity with a Jalbani family.

The deceased woman was identified as Kulsoom Katohar and the dead boy as Naveed. The wounded child, Aijaz, was rushed to a local government health facility where doctors referred him to the Chandka Medical University Hospital, Larkana, due to his critical condition.

Jacobabad SSP Saddam Hussain Khaskheli, leading a team of his subordinates, visited the house and collected information about the incident. However, an FIR of the incident was not registered at the Punho Bhatti police station of Garhi Khero taluka till late Thursday evening. Nor was any suspect detained.
