Rape suspect arrested in Bahawalnagar

BAHAWALNAGAR: The Fort Abbas police on Tuesday arrested one of the two suspects who allegedly raped two teenage Hindu sisters on June 5.

The police said the complainants, of Chak 281/HR, went out to answer the call of nature late on Sunday when the suspects raped them at a deserted place and later fled. Some passersby were alerted to the cries of the girls.

Some notables of the area tried to stop the girls’ father from contacting the police. The police said the other suspect had secured his interim bail in the case. Police sources confirmed that the initial medical report confirmed the rape of both victims.

ACCIDENT: Three people, including a father and his son, died on Tuesday when a bus hit a loader rickshaw on Chishtian Road near the Ramna Factory stop. Rescue 1122 officials said the deceased include rickshaw driver Afzal and his son Nadeem. A passenger named Shah Sawar succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the DHQ Hospital. The bus driver fled, however, the police after taking the bus into custody are looking into the matter.
