DERA GHAZI KHAN: The funeral prayers for Qandeel Baloch, a social media star and model, were offered in her native town Shah Saddar Din, some 30 kilometres north of the city on the Indus Highway.
A large number of locals from various walks of life attended the funeral prayers. Later, she was buried in the graveyard located in the centre of the town, which she had left some eight years ago to start her career, gaining fame as a model.
Qari Muhammad Musa led the funeral prayers at the main ground of Shah Saddar Din. Her body was shifted here late Saturday night from Multan where her parents were settled. The murder accused, her brother Wasim Baloch, was arrested by the Multan police.
Her father Azim Baloch told the media after the burial that she possessed strong nerves and was very brave. There might be behind the scene involvement of some others in her murder, he added.
He disclosed that she was also willing to join some political party and negotiations were on the cards with various parties, adding that she had also consulted him.
According to locals, the family of Qandeel Baloch, whose actual name was Fauzia Azim, owned a small house in Marrha village near Shah Saddar Din and her close relatives are also settled there.
