Police looking for ‘killer’ boyfriend

KHAIRPUR: Police are looking for a man accused of killing his girlfriend after depriving her of 350 grams of gold and Rs 50,000 cash. The girl had left her parents’ house to marry him in Qambar.

Police sources said 35-year-old Musarrat Shaikh of Shaikh Mohalla, Qambar, left her parentsí house, taking away 350 grams of gold, Rs 50,000 in cash, cosmetics and clothes for holding marriage with her boyfriend Younus Shaikh, a goldsmith of the same town.

The sources said Younus Shaikh stayed at the house of his friend Noor Chandio with the girl where the murder plot was hatched. They said instead of registering a complaint with the police about the escape of the girl, her parents informed the elite of the family for resolving the issue.

A man informed them that a huge bag was floating in a Nullah, the sources said. The police collected the bag which had cosmetics, clothes, and shoes of the girl. The sources said the suspected killer was missing while his friend Noor had been arrested on the complaint of the brother of the slain girl.

DPO Qambar Parvez Umrani confirmed the incident, adding that the police had recovered the knife used in the murder and a motorbike. The DPO said the accused was still missing and the body of the girl had still not been recovered, but some leads had been found. He said he was personally investigating the case and would dig out the actual cause of death. The DPO said the complainant maintained in his report that his sister was killed by Younus Shaikh.
