Police arrest suspected rapist of female seminary student

RAWALPINDI   – Pirwadhai police have arrested the administrator of a seminary for allegedly placing a female student under torture and raping her inside the seminary in Pirwadhai area, informed a police spokesman on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Mufti Shah Nawaz, the administrator of Jamia Tuba Zia Ul Binat, Pirwadhai, against whom another case was also registered by police on charges of showing resistance to avoid being arrested, he said.

He added the accused has managed to obtain pre-arrest bail a day earlier in the rape case lodged against him with Police Station Pirwadhai on complaint of mother of the girl.

Earlier, police, following the orders of City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younas, conducted raids in several areas of Manserha, KP under command of Superintendent of Police  Rawal Division Zia Uddin Ahmed, and took four close relatives into custody to force the accused to surrender before police, he mentioned.

Sharing further details, the spokesman said that police had registered yet another case against the suspected rapist under sections 212/224 of PPC.

He added the investigators have broadened the sphere of interrogation and also decided to insert two more sections 377 and 506ii of PPC in the rape case earlier registered on complaint of mother of victim.

“City Police Officer Muhammad Ahsan Younas has also ordered SSP Investigation Syed Ghazanffar Ali Shah and SP Rawal Division Zia Uddin Ahmed to supervise the investigation of the rape case in order to provide justice to the victim girl,” he added.
