PML-N seeks probe into violence against women

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Women Wing in its meeting on Wednesday condemned the baton-charge on peaceful women protesting the unannounced loadshedding in Banda Daud Shah in Karak and demanded a probe and strict punishment to erring police officials.

The meeting, presided over by its Secretary General Shazia Aurangzeb, deplored the police highhandedness against innocent women and asked the Awami National Party-led coalition government to hold an investigation as to why women in Pakhtun society were disgraced.

Speaking on the occasion, Shazia Aurangzeb said the government had failed to overcome the problems of its citizens, who had been forced to stand in queue for hours to get essential items.

The MPA said the price-hike, unemployment and lawlessness had made life miserable for the people but the government, instead of consoling its citizens, had started killing and injuring the people when they exercised their right to protest.

The PML-N women wing, she said, would come out on roads if the responsible police officers were not punished. The participants of the meeting also requested chief justice of the Supreme Court to take notice of the situation if the government failed to take action against the responsible people.
