Part of woman’s nose cut off
LARKANA: Roshan Domki with the help of his brother Mehar allegedly chopped off part of the nose of his wife, Arbab Khatoon, and inflicted deep cuts on her arm and cheeks late on Friday night when she asked for money to buy some household necessities.
Police booked them on Saturday on a complaint lodged by victim’s brother Ali Anwar Domki but failed to arrest the accused who had gone into hiding after police started their search.
Roshan, said to be a drug addict, used a sharp edged instrument and help by his brother to inflict cuts on her face and arms and fled afterwards.
She was admitted to Chandka Medical College Hospital in precarious condition and still not out of danger, according to doctors.
Sharmila Farooqui, adviser to Sindh chief minister, took notice of the cruelty and talked to Deputy Inspector General of Police Sanaullah Abbasi, urging him to put the accused behind bars immediately.
She said the government would bear expenses of Khatoon’s treatment and also plastic surgery if it was needed.
The investigation police have conducted raids to arrest the accused but they have so far been unsuccessful.
