Pakistani doctors in US offers DNA test for rape victim

KARACHI,January 19,2005:The Association of Pakistan Physicians in North America (APPNA) has made an offer to help the rape victim at Sui, Balochistan, for a DNA test and also offered her help to emigrate to the United States if she desires to do so, Dr Shershah Syed, central General Secretary of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), told the Daily Times on January 18.

He said the PMA stood for a thorough investigation and exemplary punishment to those involved in the ghastly incident.

The PMA, with other rights’ organizations, also staged a protest demonstration on January 18 in front of Karachi Press Club and condemned the gang-rape of the lady doctor at Sui, Balochistan. A press release issued by the PMA said it condemned the incident since it was not only the rape of a lady doctor but a disgrace for the entire nation and after this incident no lady doctor would be ready to serve the people in far-flung areas.
