Islamabad, 26-Jan-2026 (PPI): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has inaugurated a state-of-the-art monitoring system, named "SHIKRA", designed to provide comprehensive, real-time surveillance of the entire passport application and issuance process.
The system was officially launched during the minister's visit to the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports in the capital on Monday.
The new platform will facilitate the tracking of passport applications at every stage, from initial submission to final delivery, for citizens both within Pakistan and at missions abroad.
In conjunction with the new framework, a round-the-clock Monitoring Room and a dedicated Call Centre have been made operational at the directorate. On the directives of the minister, the Emergency Travel Document system has also been fully digitalised.
Mohsin Naqvi said the government is committed to ensuring the provision of fast and secure services of an international standard to the populace.
