Mansehra police stations get women moharrars

MANSEHRA: District police officer Asif Bahadur has appointed women moharrars to four police stations here to facilitate women in lodging FIRs.

“We have initially appointed women moharrars to City, Oghi, Shinkiari and Balakot police stations to the relief of women, who stay away for being unable to share their complaints with policemen,” he told reporters in his office here on Friday.

Mr Bahadur, who assumed the DOP’s office lately, said he was committed to restoring the people’s confidence in police and controlling crime with their help.

He said other police stations in the district would also get women moharrars in the days ahead.

City Police Station moharrar Syeda Misbah Abid said social pressures stopped women from visiting police stations for FIR registration but that would change after the women moharrars’ appointment.

Oghi police station moharrar Irum Afsar said her appointment would encourage more and more women to approach police with complaints for action.
