Man kills wife over unpaid house rent

LAHORE: A former army soldier gunned down his wife after a fight over unpaid rent in the Millat Park police precincts on Tuesday.

According to police, accused Ashiq, currently working as a security guard in Ichhra, had a quarrel with his wife Hanifan (50) over the house rent pending for the past two months. Police said the family also owed bills to a local general store and a milk shop. The Millat Park Police Station duty officer told Daily Times that Ashiq had his gun on him when the quarrel started as it was time for him to leave for work. He said Ashiq lost his temper and shot his wife in the head. She was taken to hospital, where she died.
