Man booked for harassing estranged wife

RAWALPINDI: Police have registered an FIR against a man and his friends for allegedly harassing his disgruntled wife and her family.

Morgah police officials said that the complainant, UU*, said that she went outside her home with her brother, Haris, and mother. As their vehicle advanced, the suspects, Ehtisham Elahi and his friends including Ahsan Ali and Mustafa, were waiting at the corner of the street in two separate cars. When the complainant’s vehicle reached close to the suspects, they tried to stop it but Haris drove past them.

She further stated the suspects started chasing them and tried to overtake them on various instances and kept hurling threats to them loudly whenever they came alongside. In the meantime, all vehicles reached the police picket near Ayub Park after which the victim’s brother Haris started screaming for help.

The police came into action and stopped the suspects’ vehicles and interrogated them. However, Mustafa started quarreling with the complainant’s brother and altercated with him too. The police officials intervened and stopped him. UU* also called her father, Nadeem Ahmed, who reached the spot too.

The police resolved the matter and asked all parties to leave. In the meantime, Elahi tried to run over the complainant with his car owing to which she fell upon the bonnet. The victim’s father tried to grab and open the car’s door but the suspect accelerated it and both, father and daughter, fell on the road and sustained minor injuries.

The police have registered a case against the incident. The Investigation Officer (IO) Muhammad Aslam said that the incident was a result of a fight between the husband and wife.
