Sub heading-Speaker sends bill to Select Committee

ISLAMABAD – Although marred by the lack of quorum during the initial half an hour, the National Assembly added another bill to an already huge pile of legislative business to be disposed by it during last parliamentary year.

Ch Shujat Hussain introduced the Prevention of AntiWomen Practices Bill, 2006.

He suggested that the bill should be sent to the select committee instead of the standing committee for further review of its technical aspects, as there were more opposition members in the select committee.

“This bill is a proof of PMLQ’s pro-women policies and broadmindedness,” he said while commenting on his party’s efforts to protect women from being harassed, humiliated and dishonoured.

The Speaker therefore referred the bill to the select committee.
