LHC takes notice of ‘unleashing dog’ on divorced woman

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has taken notice of a press report stating that former in-laws allegedly set dog on a divorced woman in Hafizabad District and sought a report from the district and sessions judge within a week. According to the press report, Shehr Bano, along with her mother, was going to the Sukheki police station to lodge a complaint against her former in-laws regarding a dowry dispute. Near the police station, Bano’s former husband and his relatives allegedly unleashed a dog on her that injured her. On Bano’s complaint, the police arrested one of the suspects. When the police brought the accused to the police station, Bano’s mother allegedly beat him up. According to the police, Bano’s complaint was false and that she concocted the story only in order to defame her former spouse and his parents.
